Thank you to all sailors, families, friends, volunteers, Vasco Taverna, WBHO, Formscaff, Nestle, Rawson’s Blaauwberg, Spur San Miguel, Makro, Bridge crew, MAC safety crew, Swart Security, Nursing Sister Yolanda Koch and MAC members, Galley, MAC staff and spectators.

The 2014 challenge had more youth sailors than in previous challenges, which augers well for future sailing challenges. The University teams made as big an impact as the Sea Scout teams & the Stellenbosch St Paddy's, dressed as leprechauns put smiles on everyone's faces. The 'old salts' of previous challenges, Nigel Smithie, Alan 'Lappies' Lauschagne, Eric Marshall & Steven Bentley, visited MAC on the Saturday evening, it was great to hear their stories of 'yore - be warned sailors, they have now decided that they will challenge you all next year 2015. Me thinks they'll be the vintage team!
Congratulations to all the trophy & medal winners. Congratulations and well done to the rest of you for entering the challenge…. sportsmanship is not always about winning, but staying the course is what makes good sportsmen. Congratulations to the Isivungu teams, it was their 10th 24-hour challenge, which goes to prove that perseverance is the keynote to success - well done Isivungu.
A tremendous 2014 Challenge was experienced by all and the ‘spirit of the challenge’ was abundant amongst everyone, despite the heavy winds, the capsizes, the breakages, the repairs, the injuries and the lack of sleep.
It was unfortunate that the challenge had to be postponed for some hours, but safety was the deciding factor.
Thank you for making the 17th Challenge a challenge to remember.
The results are posted on the MAC website www.milnertonaquaticclub.co.za (sail section - results).

Those of you who sail single handed dinghies, we'll see you at the 12-Hour Challenge later in the year.

I wish you the very best and good sailing till we see you on the water for the 2015 Challenge in 350 days time, which following on the success of the 2014 challenge promises to be the challenge of all sailing challenges!
