...46 hours to launch
Ahoy sailors .. come rain or sunshine you have less than 46 hours to the launch of the 15th MAC 24-Hour Challenge 2012.Let's show the world and the country what true sailors are made of. No boring sailing round and round buoys, but exciting 24 hours of non-stop sailing, with sponsors to light your way, to slack your thirst, prevent lip burn, ensure your safety on and off the water, monitor your distance sailed and entertain you onshore, and if you eat your 'Nestle Bar One for a 25 hour day', you'll be able to sail an extra hour to win the Nestle Bar One Trophy.
Since 1998 the sailors, sailing the annual MAC 24-Hour, have been attempting to better the world record, which is held in the U.K. of distance sailing of 253.94kms over 24 hours. We at MAC are still trying to grab that world record, but failing that, the S.A. record of 244.15kms set in 2000 is within reach of every team that enters the 2012 challenge.
Sailing the MAC 24-Hour exercises your mind and body, draws on your ability as a sailor and your skills in handling a boat, builds team spirit and is character building ... so come on all ye sailors, young and old, and be ready to launch your boat on Saturday 31 March 2012 at 12 noon.
Everyone is welcome to come along and cheer the sailors to victory.
No admission fee at the gate. Galley and pub will be open and FROG will entertain the young ones. There will be a jumping castle, face painting and games.
Come one, come all and enjoy a day or two at MAC on the shores of Rietvlei Nature Conservation.
