We welcome new members at all times, since we have a revolving sail training programme, new members can slot in at any time - one does have to become a MAC Member to participate but MAC does have a Mac Payment scheme available - please ask for details!( Interested Ladies are welcome to try out one lesson before becoming a MAC member, but thereafter they will have to join Milnerton Aquatic Club). Phone Micky in the MAC Office Ph. 021 557 7090 or E-mail MAC: mac@milnertonaquaticclub.co.za

We currently do not charge for these lessons but we do need funds to cover any boat breakages etc thus we do appreciate donations. Betty has been working on a sponsorship Proposal, so if you have any good leads please send the information to me please. We would dearly love to purchase another training boat. If anyone has any good fund raising ideas please let us know about it.

It is also nice to know how many ladies to expect at the sail training sessions, so please let us know if you are able/unable to attend.

I look forward to seeing you all at MAC.

Kind regards

MAC OPENING CRUISE THIS SATURDAY!!!
MAC Opening Cruise 2011

Ahoy all MAC members – welcome aboard for the 35th MAC OPENING CRUISE 2011/12 on Saturday 20th August.

Please can our ladies attend & wear their Ladies at Launch caps & T-shirts - it should be an exciting day as per usual!!

In Roman times, nations went into land battles waving standards/banners/flags, to identify themselves and they chanted war cries to intimidate the enemy.
In sea battles, the ship ‘carrying the Admiral’s flag’, was called the flagship. However, these ancient procedures have been adapted throughout the decades. On special manoeuvres, with Naval tradition, bunting is draped from bow to stern – this is referred to as a boat being ‘dressed overall’. The yachting fraternity has adopted the tradition of decorating their boats at opening cruises and/or on special occasions when putting out to sea.
So come one, come all – power, windsurfers and sailors, dress your boats overall and be part of the fleet in the official opening cruise of the new season.
Boats are to be rigged, decorated & beached on the lawn by 14h00 and ready for launching at 14h50.
14h00 - Guests arrive
14h30 – welcome address by Commodore
14h50 – boats launch
Commodore, guests and those members, not sailing, assemble at flag pole
15h00 – Club burgee is ‘broken’ – indicating that the season is open – where upon the fleet lead by the MAC rescue boat sails past the Commodore and company and salutes him and he returns the salute.
Once past this point, “The battle of the seas” commences with the acceptable ammunition of ‘flour’ and ‘water’ bombs – be prepared!
Thereafter everyone is invited into the clubhouse for refreshments and snacks. Cash bar is available.
There will be a prize for the best decorated boat & crew.
Everyone is welcome.
See you all on the water. Pat Downing.
